What Problems Can Men's Therapy Address?
Men's therapy addresses the specific challenges men face — often in ways that traditional therapy doesn't. Many men struggle with anger, focus, or relationship issues but don't know where to start. Our approach is direct, practical, and focused on building strategies that work in your real life.
At our Kanata, Ottawa clinic, we use CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) and ADHD-informed strategies to help men manage emotions, improve focus, and strengthen relationships. Sessions are confidential and judgement-free.
Common reasons men seek therapy:

- ADHD, difficulty focusing, and executive function
- Relationship strain and communication breakdowns
- Stress, burnout, and feeling disconnected

Common Questions
Frequently Asked Questions
What does therapy for men look like?
It's a confidential, practical conversation focused on your goals. We use evidence-based approaches like CBT to help you understand patterns, build strategies, and make real changes. Sessions are 50 minutes, and many clients start seeing progress within a few weeks.
I've never done therapy before — what should I expect?
The first session is about getting to know you and what brought you in. There's no pressure to share everything at once. We'll work at your pace and focus on what matters most to you. Many men find it easier than they expected.
Can therapy help with anger management?
Yes. We help you understand what triggers your anger, develop healthier responses, and improve communication. This isn't about suppressing emotions — it's about managing them effectively so they don't control your life or your relationships.
Do you work with men who have ADHD?
Yes. Many men are diagnosed with ADHD later in life, and it can affect work, relationships, and self-esteem. We use ADHD-informed strategies to help with focus, organization, emotional regulation, and building routines that work for you.
How long does therapy take?
It depends on your goals. Some men benefit from 6-8 sessions focused on a specific issue, while others prefer ongoing support. We'll discuss a realistic timeline during your free consultation.
Is therapy covered by insurance?
Most extended healthcare plans in Ontario cover therapy with a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) — Tom's CRPO credential — including Blue Cross, Canada Life, Manulife, Sun Life, and Veterans Affairs (VAC). Check your plan for "Registered Psychotherapist" coverage. Individual therapy is $180 per 50-minute session and we provide detailed receipts for reimbursement.
